MEETINGS:

Monday nights from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Downing Middle School when LISD is in session.

MEMBERSHIP:

Troop 262 is a large troop with about 95 registered scouts and a scout/leader ratio of nearly 2:1. We have a high level of parent involvement who help us offer ongoing opportunities for camping, service, and rank advancement.

CAMPING:

Troop 262 camps roughly once a month within a two-hour driving radius of DFW. Popular campout activities include aquatics, shooting, archery, and climbing. Our Troop provides all equipment necessary with the exception of cots, sleeping gear, and personal items.

Week-long summer camp options include a nearby camp (within a couple hours drive), a far-away camp such as Colorado or Tennessee, and a high adventure camp (i.e. Philmont for boys 14 years and older).

ABOUT US:

Troop 262 is a boy-led troop chartered by the Highland Village Lions Foundation.

Our scouts elect their own leaders and plan the troop’s activities. The adult leadership then assists with the logistics of fulfilling the activities the boys wish to experience. The boys also run the Monday night meetings with adult leadership making announcements as necessary. First-year scouts will be in their own patrol with leadership positions and training available right away. A den that bridges together can stay together as a patrol, and scouts will be added as necessary to make patrols of about 10 boys.

First-year patrols will have the assistance of up to three Troop Guides; older scouts who help the patrol through meetings, campout activities, and rank advancements.

Troop 262 encourages new scouts to complete their Tenderfoot and Second-Class ranks within the sixth-grade year, prior to focusing on merit badges. After that, the scouts will advance at their own pace.

THE PATH TO EAGLE:

Troop 262 has awarded the rank of Eagle Scout to more than 130 boys since 1985. Our adult leadership is ready to support your scout with encouragement, training, and opportunities for personal growth, as well as guidance towards becoming an Eagle Scout.
